Self-esteem is all about how an individual feels about himself or herself. When someone doesn’t reach their full potential and their talent is wasted, it is likely to be through a lack of self-esteem. The first part of that feeling comes from others around them, and the other part comes from within. That’s why we need to be careful about who we hang around with and listen to. My advice to my athletes is to look at all your positive attributes and don’t dwell on things that will limit your performance. It is all about confidence and believing in your abilities. You either believe in yourself or you don’t! It’s not what you are; it’s what you think you are.

Comment Guidelines: The SportingPulse Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we can also ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
