Have a good work ethic

Ric Charlesworth, Phil McNamara, Ron Barassi and Wayne Bennett talk about having a good work ethic while playing sport.

According to Charlesworth “There is a true satisfaction in life when doing your best and doing something well.  One can’t succeed unless we work diligently, with quality, every day. After all, I believe you only take out what you put in.” Phil McNamara agrees and says “Work wins when wishing won’t”. The five W’s which claims that you really need to have a high work ethic to approach each goal or objective with a methodical, scientific approach.  Ron Barassi emphasises this point by saying: There are two things that will make individuals good, one is natural ability, and the other is effort!  Giving 100% every time - this is where great champions show their true colours

“Sport is about testing an individuals limits. Sometimes you can win with a mediocre effort whilst on another day; you can lose, having given 100%. Every individual knows which effort they are most proud of. I often remind my athletes that whilst you can’t take away the disappointment of losing, there is a great sense of self-satisfaction about doing your best. In sport, you need to come to grips with coming second, but if you have given everything, you can be proud of your performance, no matter what.” - Wayne Bennett
